A NEW GUEST ARTIST FOR MARCH....

We do indeed have a very talented and lovely guest artist for March - drumroll please - we have Jannet Blay, of Enchanted Place Blog, http://gillslap.blogspot.co.uk/

We do love Jannet's fabulous mixed media makes, and here we have some of her delightful creations using Crafty Individuals stamps, with short descriptions by Jannet, and a step by step regarding the first one at the end...

A Spring Stroll, with stamps CI-206, CI-234 and CI-449

Wonderful World, with stamp CI-483

I stamped the blossom Robin onto card and coloured him and the flowers, and then fussy cut them. I adhered a twig onto my background and added the Robin and blossoms with foam pads. I used the Wonderful World sentiment from the Wonder of Childhood Stamp set. I also added the flying birds from the birds and branches set.I mounted the completed picture onto a 6x6 Kraft Card with the twig and some blossoms overlapping the edges.

Make  A Wish, with stamp CI-471

I stamped the make a wish stamp on my background which I had created with watercolours. I substituted dried flowers for the dandelion clock, and added more flowers to the base of the picture. I used the May your dreams come true sentiment which I had received free in one of your lovely free gift packs.I flicked some white paint over my 6x6 Kraft Card blank and then mounted it with foam tape.

Walkies, with stamp CI-489

I used a 4 inch deep frame and made a Watercolour background and stamped birds and branches onto the top and sides. I stamped and fussy cut the lovely  Walkies characters and coloured them.I also  added some flowersoft for the girls fluffy collar and for the Pom Pom on the hat. I also added some glossy accents onto the boots. I used some thin twine for the dogs lead. I used texture paste on the base and embedded the girl and various twigs, dried flowers and art stones.

A Spring Stroll in Steps...

Other Materials Used:

Watercolour paints, beads, glitter pen, texture paste, black Archival Ink pad, Versamark ink pad, black embossing powder, art stones, twigs, curly moss, dried flowers, sticky foam pads

Steps:

Step 1. Recycling is always good so I used the chipboard back cover from a watercolour pad and coated it twice with white gesso. This provided a good surface for my watercolour paints. I painted a sky, leaving some white areas to form clouds.
I then decided to paint some pink hills, anything is possible when you create your own world in art!

I painted in a green area for grass, and when it was still wet I crumpled up some copy paper and pressed it onto the wet paint. This left lots of fun creases and textures.

Step 2. I stamped the cute children with black Archival ink and after colouring them with watercolours I fussy cut them. I adhered some little beads on the girls dress for buttons, and used a clear glitter pen on the butterflies, and on her tights.

Step 3. After using black embossing powder to outline the flowers I coloured them and fussy cut, I repeated this with the birdhouse too.I stamped several birds from the Birds, Branches set and also fussy cut them.

Step 4. I curled up the edges of the flowers to give them some shape, and also slightly folded the birdhouse.I used stems from dried flowers and added them to the paper flowers.

Step 5. Using Black Archival I stamped some birds onto the sky. Over the hills
I flicked some pink paint in a shade a little darker than the original pink.

Step 6. I gathered together all of my materials and laid them over my background and when I was finally happy with how it looked I adhered them. I used sticky foam pads for the children, flowers and the birdhouse, and glossy accents for the twigs and birds.

Step 7. I finished by adding texture paste to the bottom of the picture and placed art stones into it, which I then painted over.

....

Many thanks Jannet for sharing your work with us in March.

Look out for another arty guest in April.

Back soon,
Jean x

  5. It’s lovely to see Jannet as our Guest Designer for March and what a wonderful array of artwork. Jannet always adds such dimension and texture to her work and the pieces above are just magical. I absolutely adore the last piece as that the young girl really does look like she’s out for a walk in the woods and the scene is almost photographic. Well done Jannet and I look forward to seeing more of your inspirational work. Crafty hugs, Sandra x
